How it works

Every family starts with an assessment.

Step 1

Literacy Assessment, $300

Every family begins here. I work directly with your child to identify exactly where and why reading is breaking down. I score everything, write a full report, and then we meet to go through it together.

You leave with a written, individualized plan that tells you what to teach, in what order, and at what intensity. Whether you continue with me or not, you have answers.

  • → Student assessment session (60–90 minutes)
  • → Full scoring and analysis
  • → Written report with individualized instructional plan
  • → Parent feedback meeting (30–60 minutes)

This is a non-diagnostic instructional assessment. It identifies where and why reading is breaking down — it is not a clinical diagnosis of dyslexia or a learning disability.

Step 2

Ongoing Support

After the assessment, families choose the level of support that fits their needs and goals.

Reading Intervention

Direct, structured literacy instruction implementing the individualized plan from your child's assessment. In-person or online.

30-min sessions: $440/month

45-min sessions: $640/month

2 sessions per week · Monthly tuition

Parent Communication

I equip you to implement your child's plan at home. Ideal for families who want to be actively involved in their child's reading growth.

Capacity is limited. Assessment slots and intervention spots are limited to 3 families.

Octavia Burnett

Literacy Specialist

I hold two master's degrees (one in Reading Science, one in educational technology), along with a teaching credential and nearly a decade in the classroom. I currently serve as a Teacher Leader supporting new educators.

My approach is grounded in the Science of Reading: the research on how children actually learn to read. I use structured literacy assessment to identify the specific point where reading is breaking down, and build instruction from there.

Reading with Octavia offers in-person services locally and virtual services for families in other locations.
